Rent-A-Center revenues rise in fourth quarter

RBR Staff Writer Published 31 January 2012

Rent-A-Center, a US-based retailer of electronics goods and furniture, has posted a 8.9% increase in total revenues to $737.5m in the fourth quarter, compared to $677.1m in the same period in a year earlier.

The growth was primarily due to an increase in revenue driven by the RAC Acceptance business and the discontinuation of the financial services business.

Same store sales for the three months period to 31 December 2012 increased by 2.7%, compared to the corresponding period last year.

In 12 months to 31 December, total revenues rose 5.5% to $2.882bn, compared to $2.732bn in the year-over period. Same store sales during the period increased marginally by 0.8%.

Rent-A-Center operates over 68 locations in the state of Missouri and more than 3,000 outlets in the US, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico.
